What is your company doing to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion?

Diversity isn’t a buzzword or a trend at Asurion — it’s woven into our culture. Everyone belongs in our commUnitycommUnity is Asurion’s Diversity and Inclusion platform, which encourages everyone to achieve their highest potential through professional and business development, education, advocacy, community outreach and support. We have 11 active Employee Resource Groups and provide inclusive leadership education. We support initiatives like STEM camps, Girls in Tech Day and Advancing Women in Nashville, as well as provide HBCU scholarships. Our #BeBold discussion series fosters productive discussions across identities, beliefs and values — such as what it means to Take a Knee or the ABCs of LGBTQIA+. We also host Active Ally workshops and SIGN clubs. Asurion has a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, is a 3-year DiversityInc. Noteworthy Company nominee, and a 4-year winner of Forbes Best Employers for Diversity award.   

Describe your workplace vibe.

We’re a low-key, casual workplace offering flexible working schedules for all our full-time employees. Our new corporate headquarters, The Gulch Hub opened in the fall of 2021 and is be a state-of-the-art tech space housing all our Nashville-based employees together for the first time! 

Where are some common places employees be found after work hours (pre-pandemic)?

Downtown hotspots and rooftop bars, sporting events, craft breweries, concerts at Bridgestone Arena or Ascend Ampitheateror one of the many amazing restaurants around the city.  

What do you like best about your Tennessee office location?

The fact that we are in the heart of Nashville – there’s never a dull moment. You can take a break and grab lunch from world-class restaurants, walk along Broadway where so many country music stars got their start – or even get lost in the CMA music festival crowd! 

What’s the most Nashville thing about your company?

Our conference rooms are Nashville-inspired. Rooms are named after neighborhoods, sports teams, and of course – country music stars! 

What are some popular spots for team outings?

Any rooftop bar or craft brewery around downtown with views of the city, a Nashville Sounds minor-league baseball game, Nashville Predators NHL game, Tennessee Titans NFL game, Nashville Soccer Club match, Arrington Vineyards, Kayaking/canoeing on one of our many rivers or lakes, peddle taverns, concerts or live music venues, Frist Museum, Country Music and/or African American Music Halls of Fame, and more!  

What’s the most exciting thing about being part of the Nashville tech industry?

The tech scene in Nashville has grown exponentially over the last several years as the city defines itself as a hub for technology. Diversity of thought is the most exciting development – with such an influx of tech talent, there is so much room for new creative development. 

How do you foster creativity, collaboration, and inclusion?

At Asurion, we offer employees a way to be heard and to connect through our employee resource groups. With 11 resource groups that are employee-led, our teammates can find a community in the workplace that allows them to express their authentic self.  

Describe your company's impact on the Nashville tech scene. How are you fostering its growth?

Asurion has grown and evolved over the last 20 years, culminating in the creation of our newest collaboration space in Nashville’s Gulch neighborhood. This space will bring our teams together in a technology-rich building with amenities supporting collaboration and personal wellness. We’re investing in Nashville because we see its future rooted in tech and we’re excited to be a part of that growth. 

How have you created a modern structure that meets your employees’ diverse work styles?

The modern workplace is all about creating safe spaces where all employees feel included, seen and heard. At Asurion we strive to give our teams a voice and embrace our differences, encouraging employees to join our Employee Resource Groups for support and to gain a view outside themselves. Our technology team supports a wide range of collaboration tools that allows our teammates to choose what best works for them and their day-to-day process.
